DEO's Tweet Triggers Controversy
Hyderabad: A tweet by the Hyderabad district electoral officer (DEO) triggered a controversy with social media users questioning the language used by the official.
The advertisement element said, "Don't fall for election malpractices and vote blindly." It was forwarded to the Hyderabad district election authority by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Reacting to the tweet, a net user said that election authorities were being insensitive to the visually impaired, by equating the physical challenge to a shortcoming.
Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Vikas Raj should come up with innovative ways to encourage electors if he wanted the polling percentage to increase.
Meanwhile, another citizen said that, CEO Vikas Raj should conduct Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities that will encourage the electors to exercise their franchise.
“The pamphlet urging people to vote that was tweeted was sloppy. Though the tweet was deleted later, it raises questions about the spending done by authorities with honest tax payers hard earned money,” said an elector.
