ZP vice Chairman Detained Over Blackmailing of Nandyal\'s Woman District ZPTC Member
Anantapur: A scandal erupted over Anantapur ZP vice chairman Kamireddypalli Sudhakar Reddy after his aides forcibly released him from Owk police in Nandyal district. He was in police custody over a complaint by the Owk ZPTC member Challa Srilakshmi that he blackmailed her.
When the Owk police tried to detain Anantapur Sudhakar Reddy, his close aides stopped the vehicle and attacked the sub inspector. Other cops got back at him on Saturday evening and the issue went viral on social media since Sunday.
Sources said Owk ZPTC member Challa Srilakshi received phone calls saying her ugly photos and videos were with Sudhakar and all of them will be uploaded on social media. She received phone calls from different numbers, and lodged a complaint with Owk police on Nov 1.
The police booked a case under 354(c), 354D and 506 sections and informed the Nandyal district cybercrime wing that the women representative was being threatened.
The police teams found the phone numbers were of Anantapur ZP vice chairman Kamireddypalli Sudhakar Reddy. Owk sub inspector Vishnu Narayana and his team reached Dharmavaram where Sudhakar Reddy was residing, and detained him.
When Nandyal district police were taking Sudhakar Reddy into custody, his close aides came and waylaid the police vehicle. They allegedly attacked the police and took Sudhakar Reddy back.
Even as the Dharmavaram police received information, there was no response and he reportedly tried to convince the Nandyal police.
Owk police briefed the Nandyal SP, who took the issue seriously and spoke to Satya Sai district SP over “poor cooperation” from Dharmavaram police even when the team was attacked and got released by his close aides.
However, Dharmavaram DSP Srinivasulu told the media on Sunday that there was no attack on the sub inspector. “Sudhakar Reddy’s close aides had a heated argument with Owk police and got him released while he was being taken to Owk in Nandyal district,” he said.
He added that the Dharmavaram police will cooperate with the Nandyal district police. The Owk police would arrive in Dharmavaram for investigations in a day or two.
