Farmers in Nandyal Set Laws Ablaze During Bhogi Bonfires
Kurnool: Protesting against the Land Titling Act introduced by the state government, farmers led by the AP Rythu Sangham set copies of the legislation on fire during Bhogi bonfires in Nandyal on Sunday.
Demonstrators raised concerns that the Act, brought by the state government, would significantly impact farmers with immovable properties. Farmers from Kairuppala Muthukuru, Puppala Doddi, Billekal, Yatakal, and Thuruvagallu villages in Aspari mandal gathered near Bhogi bonfires in the villages to express their opposition to the Act, emphasising its potential harm to the farming community. CPI district president Nagendrayya and leaders from various farmers' associations participated in the protest.
Further, Telugu Desam leaders in the region accused the state government of introducing oppressive laws to suppress opposition and people since coming to power. In several mandals, copies of some laws were set ablaze during Bhogi bonfires on Sunday.
