PM to Open NACIN in Satya Sai District on January 16
ANANTAPUR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the second campus of the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN) along the national highway at Palasamudram in Gorantla mandal of Satya Sai district on Tuesday, January 16.
The PM will reach the NACIN campus by helicopter in the afternoon on January 16. He will stay for a few hours there during inaugurating the academy.
The ₹730 crore academy had been sanctioned in 2014 to Andhra Pradesh as part of the post bifurcation package. State government has allotted 35 acres of land for the academy, which is closer to the Bengaluru International Airport.
The first campus of NACIN is at Faridabad. It provides training to officers of the IRS and custom across the country. The second campus in AP will train Group -1 officers of AP, apart from other states, in matters related to the Goods and Services Tax. The AP campus will also provide refresher courses for corporate-sponsored candidates from across the country in taxation and customs.
The academy at Palasamudram will also be the Maritime Training Centre for training officers who check smuggling of narcotics over ships, containers and other modes of sea transport. Apart from have classrooms and training centres, the academy has hostel facilities for trainees and residential accommodation for the faculty and staff, apart from guests.
A team of SPG, Satya Sai collector E. Arun Babu, Anantapur range DIG Ammi Reddy and SP Madhava Reddy visited the academy as well as the helipad on Saturday.
Chief secretary Dr. K.S. Jawahar Reddy reviewed the arrangements for the Prime Minister’s visit in Vijayawada on Friday. He directed the state and Satya Sai district officials to make all necessary arrangements for the PM’s visit.
Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and AP Governor S. Abdul Nazeer are likely to be present on the occasion.
