Kollam: ‘Catch’em young’ is the slogan Kollam police has adopted to communicate the need for responsible driving in a state where on an average 13 people are killed daily in accidents. The exhibition of 200-odd photographs of accidents occurred within the city limits since 2005 and an installation depicting a gruesome accident involving a vehicle carrying school children are drawing a lot of visitors, mostly school children.
Paintings by students of various schools in the district are also part of the exhibition, christened ‘Disha’, which is on at Kollam police club till February 15 The police has also formed safety clubs in schools with the headmaster as chairman and two student representatives from each class as volunteers, training them in controlling traffic associated with school functions.
