Hyderabad Metro moves to keep pace with rain
Hyderabad: A string of complaints in the first few days of rain water overflowing from the viaduct at Hyderabad Public School, Ameerpet, Khairtabad and other places became a cause of concern for motorists. Hyderabad Metro Rail has swung into action to complete the pending storm water drain works. Storm water drain works near the petrol pump at Prakashnagar Metro Rail station to Begumpet road are now being taken up. There were constant complaints of water overflowing from the viaduct at Hyderabad Public School, which put a lot of motorists to inconvenience.
The de-silting of the rain water harvesting pits and restoration of storm water drain is being done to avoid water stagnation opposite Seeshmahal theatre in Greenlands. Storm water drain works from Nampally station to Ek Minar junction are also being expedited. Mr N.V.S Reddy, managing director of Hyderabad Metro Rail, has asked L&T Metro Rail to remove the construction material outside Gandhi Bhavan and Osmania Medical College so that the water stagnation can be prevented. Hyderabad Metro Rail has come under criticism due to the water falling from the via duct, non-completion of works and improper barricading, which is causing further chaos during rains. Mr Reddy inspected the situation from Khairtabad to MGBS corridor and Paradise to Ameerpet.
