Khammam: Venkappa and his daughter Rajani refused to accept Aswaraopet MLA Thati Venkateswarlu’s compromise offer. Venkappa was slapped by Thati Venkateswarlu, and this led to a huge hue and cry.
Representatives of the MLA met the victim on Tuesday and asked him to stop making a big deal of the issue. The father and daughter demanded that the MLA should issue them an unconditional apology at the same spot where he had slapped Venkappa.
Venkappa said, “I approached the MLA to solve a problem. Our daughter Rajani was facing humiliation because of rumours of her association with the MLA. Instead of resolving the issue, the MLA attacked me.” He said that they would meet Chief Minister K. Chandra-sekhar Rao to complain about the MLA. He said they had decided to meet the SP of Bhadradri-Kothagudem district to explain the issue to him.
“The police beat me up as per orders of the MLA. I did not commit any crime against the MLA. I only asked him to solve my daughter’s problem”, he said. Venkappa’s daughter Rajani demanded an unconditional apology from the MLA. Meanwhile, the MLA blasted a TRS leader for allowing the issue to escalate. He criticised the leader for helping Venkappa and Rajani construct a house and alleged that he had made them to target him. He also lodged a complaint at the Dammapet police station.
