Country celebrates 120th anniversary of Hyderabad Mint
HYDERABAD: Numismatics enthusiasts from across the country celebrated the 120th anniversary of the India Government Mint at the Mint compound in Hyderabad.
Calling the Mint a landmark for the country, an event was organised on Wednesday, wherein S.K. Sinha, CMD of SPMCIL (Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India) in Delhi, unveiled copper coins measuring 8 grams and 50 grams, and a silver coin weighing 10 grams. Sinha was accompanied by Ajay Agarwal, director (finance) of SPMCIL, Delhi.
The coins were produced at the Hyderabad Mint.
The India Government Mint at Saifabad has been at the forefront of producing high-quality coins and other minted products for over a century. Its relentless commitment to precision, craftsmanship, and technological advancements has earned it a reputation as one of the leading mints in the country.
Sinha, said, “We take pride in the achievements of the Indian Government Mint and applaud its role in preserving the nation's numismatic heritage. The Mint's dedication to maintaining the highest standards of quality and security in the production of coins, medals, and other minted products is outstanding.”
V.N.R. Nayudu, chief general manager, said, “The 120th-anniversary celebration of the India Government Mint served as a platform to honour its rich history, acknowledge the contributions of its talented workforce, and reinforce its commitment to excellence in the field of minting.”
The event concluded with the attendees taking stock of the coins and medals put on display.
