Pawan Kalyan Slams CM on Privatisation of VSP, Gangavaram Port

Visakhapatnam: Jana Sena leader Pawan Kalyan on Sunday slammed the YSRC government for not making serious efforts to save Visakhapatnam Steel Plant from privatisation or getting captive mines for its survival.

Addressing a public meeting at the industrial town of Gajuwaka, Pawan Kalyan said the chief minister had 151 MLAs and 30 MPs and yet he was unable to pressurise the government to sanction mines or stop privatisation.

"They are asking me to talk to the Central government but I have no backing from MPs to take forward my demand," Pawan said.

The elected MPs of the government were not opening their mouths. The people know how these MPs were elected and why they have no guts to pressurise the government, he pointed out.

"Those who are corrupt and won the elections by spending money can never have the moral courage to make a demand," Pawan told the crowd.

He said it was a known fact that the steel plant was established after 33 persons including some from Telangana sacrificed their lives in the police firing.

Similarly, 18,000 farmers gave away 26,000 acres of land for the steel plant but half of them never got compensation. Those farmers are eating food given by the temples as they have lost their main source of income.

Speaking about the importance of the steel plant, Pawan said 30,000 people are employed and the plant used to earn 30 per cent of the state's GDP.

He also criticised the state government for selling its 10 per cent share in Gangavaram Port to the Adani group. He said the port was exploiting the fishermen's families of Dibbapalem and Gangavaram villages.

Pawan Kalyan once again warned Vizag MP M.V.V. Satyanarayana that his dream apartments at Siripuram would be demolished if Jana Sena came to power the way a 26-floor apartment was demolished in Gurgaon.
