Adilabad: Money-makers', belt shops thrive
ADILABAD: Belt shops have started mushrooming in villages after the state government imposed restrictions on brewing of gudumba and sale of spurious liquor in the state.
Illegal belt shops have come up in every nook and corner of the villages and slums in the towns where legal liquor shops are not available in old Adilabad district.
Belt shops have increased even after the state government allowed seating at liquor shops.
The village development committees are extending support and cooperation to the illegal belt shops and owner of the belt shops who pay some “goodwill amount” to the VDCs in villages.
In some places, people will get rights for running belt shops in open auction conduct by VDSs. The owners of belt shops sell the liquor at higher price for more margins.
