Hyderabad: All halls packed for 4 good days
Hyderabad: Function halls have been booked solid for marriages for four days from November 23 as there are no good muhurthams till February.
Parents who arranged marriages later are opting for November 27 and 28 which are normal as per the strength of muhurtham, said Telangana Archakas Associa-tion president Gangu Bhanu Murthy.
Purohit R.V.N.H. Sharma from Kondapur said about 60,000 marriages are scheduled in the city. “Parents have hired colony parking lots and parks, community halls and schools,” he said.
“There will be Shukra Moudyam from November 30 to February 15 and there are no good muhurthams till Febru-ary 20. Parents should wait for muhurthams after Sri Rama Navami,” Mr Murthy said. These include muhurthams for house warming ceremonies, laying of foundation stones.
Mr Ch. Praveen of Subham Convention Centre said the highest demand was for the days from November 23 and 26.
Besides purohits, who will be overseeing at least two marriages a day, event management firms, bands, florists and caterers are booked. Mr Ajay Jain, a trader from Neredmet, said he had to attend eight marriages on November 25 and 26.
Hall owners await ‘star’ bonanza
Function halls owners have increased rents by up to 50 per cent due to the heavy demand. The rental period has been reduced to half a day.
An function hall owner said there were few good days since August and they had faced loses. The four good days come as a bonanza, especially as there will be few good days till February. Rentals in the city range from Rs 15,000 to Rs 4 lakh per day.
