Hyderabad: Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao expressed shock at the fire in Bazarghat and extended their condolences to the affected families.
The government announced Rs 5 lakh ex gratia to the kin of each of the victims. Minister K.T. Rama Rao along with minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav visited the spot and said that a detailed inquiry would be held into the incident.
“We assure all possible support to those who have lost their property. We will also ensure that the injured persons are provided the best treatment,” Rama Rao said.
Congress senior leader and Nampally candidate Mohd Feroz Khan was heckled by AIMIM candidate Majid Hussain and his associates when he arrived at the site. Hussain and MIM workers had rushed to the site on hearing of the fire.
When Khan reached the spot, AIMIM workers asked why had come to the spot and, joined by Hussain, tried to force him to leave. With the situation becoming tense, police used mild force to disperse the crowd. Later, Khan also visited the mishap site.
Khan blamed the BRS government for the incident. “It is because all departments have taken bribes that resulted in this mishap,” he said.
TS BJP president Union minister G. Kishan Reddy visited the fire accident site and expressed his condolences.
“Many lives are being lost owing to fire accidents in godowns. I wrote letters to the Chief Secretary and municipal commissioner but to no avail. Paper and chemical godowns should be vacated from residential areas and the accident is a result of the government’s negligence. We will secure monetary help from the PM CARES fund for the victims,” he said.
