Karnataka Upgrades Primary Health Centres
Belagavi: Health and Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao announced the plans to submit a proposal to the Chief Minister for the upgradation of hospitals in the taluk centers of recently declared taluks.
This statement came in response to queries from legislators during the question hour of the Legislative Assembly, held as part of the Belagavi winter session on Thursday.
"A significant number of hospitals in the recently designated taluk centers have yet to be elevated to taluk hospitals. Consequently, 160 Primary Health Centers (PHCs) in the state are now eligible for elevation to Community Health Centers (CHCs)." he said.
The Minister acknowledged the demand from MLAs and assured that the upgradation process would be undertaken in phases, based upon the availability of funds.
In response to the appeal from Devadurga MLA Karemma, Dinesh Gundu Rao assured allocating funds in the upcoming budget for the construction of a new mother and child hospital in Devadurga town. He also promised to upgrade the Gabbur Primary Health Centre to Community Health Centre.
Addressing a question posed by Thirthahalli MLA Araga Jnanendra, Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao stated that Rs. 35 lakh had already been released for the construction of Thirthahalli Government Ayurveda Hospital, with additional grants to be provided as needed. Muddebihal MLA CS Nadagouda pressed for the upgrading of the hospital in Talikota to the status of a Taluk Hospital.
"It has been seven years since Talikote became the taluk headquarters, and yet the Talikote hospital has not been upgraded," he lamented.
In response to this plea, Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao assured the immediate upgrading.
