Tirupati: A male spotted deer got killed in a road accident on Alipiri-Cherlopalli bypass road near SV Zoo Park in Tirupati during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.
Local residents passing by saw the deer’s body lying in the middle of the road. They shifted the animal to the side and informed the forest department. The carcass has been shifted to a hospital for post-mortem, Tirupati circle sub divisional forest officer (SDFO) Srinivasa Rao told this newspaper.
He said road kills are very rare in the region. Though no evidence of the accident has been found, the department is verifying CCTV footage in the area to identify the vehicle involved in hitting the animal.
Forest officials later informed that post the autopsy, the carcass has been burnt as per the guidelines.
