Thiruvananthapuram: Ramzan snacks up for grabs
Thiruvananthapuram: It’s Ramzan time and the make shift stalls near Palayam mosque are selling mouth watering delicacies like hot cakes.
Kai pathiri, chicken cutlets Kerala style, Unnakkaya, Sukhiyan, Erachi Pathiri, Malabar Samosa, meat pathiri and egg kabab are all up for grabs at these stalls which start brisk business in evening hours. Apart from those observing fast during the Holy month, these delicacies are a big hit with others as well.
One of the tastiest samosas in the city are available here. A group of youngsters came up with the idea of selling fresh homemade snacks way back in 2011. Though Ansar, Siddique and Zulfik are engaged in their daily jobs, they take a break from the work during Ramadan to set up these stalls. And their sales are growing by the day.
“Actually we had set up something like a permanent shop. But the city corporation removed it. It’s not practical to set up the shops at any other place because of the proximity to the main road. We decided to continue with the temporary stalls and that worked. During this period we have managed to create a customer base,” said Aneef.
