Avinash Reddy set for CBI grill session

ANANTAPUR: A CBI team on Monday served notice to Kadapa MP, YS Avinash Reddy, asking him to appear before it in Hyderabad on Tuesday in connection with the ongoing investigation into the murder of former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy.

CBI had questioned the Kadapa MP thrice at its office in Koti in Hyderabad and arrested his father YS Bhaskar Reddy. Avinash Reddy has been asked to appear before the CBI for the fourth time.

The Kadapa MP was at Pulivendula attending various party programmes when he received the CBI notice. He hurried to Hyderabad.

Speculations are rife over the arrest of the Kadapa MP in connection with the alleged conspiracy behind the murder. The MP had filed petitions in TS high court and also in the Supreme Court, seeking courts’ intervention to stop the CBI from arresting him.

The other day, the Supreme Court took note of the TS high court directions to CBI about questioning the MP with an advance questionnaire. In addition, the TS high court had reportedly cleared the line for CBI to act on its own.

However, the CBI didn’t initiate action for over three weeks after getting clearance from the court for the questioning.
