Grand celebrations mark Hanuman Jayanthi

HYDERABAD: Devotees thronged Hanuman temples in the city on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanthi on Sunday.

Many popular temples in the city such Tadbund, Sri Prasanna Anjaneya Swami temple in Anand Bagh, Hanuman temple in Ameerpet, Karmanghat, Koti and other temples were thronged by devotees from 4 am onwards to mark the celebrations.

Endowment officer of Tadbund Hanuman temple V. Ambuja told Deccan Chronicle, “We had around 20,000 devotees coming in from 4 am and the temple was open in the afternoon. We conducted Mani Suktam homams, Sundarakanda parayanam and abhishekam. Monday’s culmination will be with abhishekam (7 am) and puranahooti. In fact, unlike in the past, we have extended the celebrations by a day.”

Meanwhile, 108 kalasa abhishekam, sahasra namarchana, manyasukta homam and Hanuman Chalisa parayanam were performed in other Hanuman temples.

Vittal Sahrma, executive officer of Ameerpet Hanuman temple, said that the festival was celebrated with fervour by the 5,000 plus devotees, who started coming from 6 am.
