HC stays rules in imposing exorbitant license fee on petrol bunks
HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court on Friday stayed the decision of the state government to impose license fees on petrol bunks. A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice P. Naveen Rao and Justice Nagesh Bheemapaka directed various municipal bodies not to insist on payment of the enhanced license fee either for granting the licence or for renewing one.
The bench was hearing a writ petition filed by the Telangana Petroleum Dealers Association challenging the rule that allowed the authorities to fix trade licence fees based on the location, floor area and size of the establishment including the road width if the petrol stations were situated next to a main road.
The association contended that the rule was contrary to the provisions of the Telangana Municipalities Act.
The bench issued notices to the authorities and sought counters from them and asked them not to implement the new rule till the court decided the matter.
