High Court bids farewell to Justice P. Naveen Rao
Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Friday bade farewell to Justice Ponugoti Naveen Rao, Acting Chief Justice, on his attainment of superannuation. Judges, advocates and court staff were present at the farewell programme conducted at First Court Hall of the High Court.
Justice Naveen Rao was part of various judges committees constituted by the High Court. He headed the computer committee, the buildings committee and the High Court Legal Services Committee and was president, Telangana State Judicial Academy, and executive chairman of TS Legal Services Authority.
He was instrumental in establishing a modern new filing section in the High Court and played a key role in establishing India’s agri-legal aid clinics, intending to familiarize farmers on laws that govern farming activity. Seventy clinics are operational. Kalpataru, the integrated courts on family disputes at Purani Haveli, Hyderabad, is the brainchild of Justice Naveen Rao.
On the day of his retirement, he was given charge as Acting Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court, in consequence of Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan being elevated as a judge of the Supreme Court.
