Mulugu MLA Seethakka asks govt to sanction crop compensation

WARANGAL: Mulugu MLA Seethakka on Monday demanded that the state government sanction crop damage compensation to farmers affected by repeated spells of heavy rains this monsoon.

Seethakka, who is also the AICC women’s wing secretary, and Kisan Congress Cell state president Anvesh Reddy visited flood-hit villages and inspected fields inundated by water flow from the Mediwagu, located along the national highway in Mulugu.

She said that hundreds of acres of farmlands in Jangalapally, Incherla, Palsaabpally, Papaiah Pally, Jivantharaopally, Narsapur, Keshavapur and Bandarupally were submerged.

The MLA also highlighted that the compensation issue, for farmers affected by overflow from the Ramappa reservoir, was brought up during Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s visit to Eturnagaram, but that there was no response.

Seethakka urged district collector Krishna Aditya to survey fields and send a proposal to the state government for sanction of compensation.

Congress DCC president N. Kumaraswamy was also present on the occasion, besides several local leaders.
