Fire victim's last rites performed
Hyderabad: Even as the 16-year-old Balaji Residency fire victim Mohd Talha continues to battle for his life with more than 75 per cent burns at the Osmania Hospital, his father Mohd Mukram Ali, had to leave him alone at the hospital and go to perform the final rites of his mother and two younger sisters, who had died in Monday’s inferno.
Talha’s younger sisters Tarooba and Manham, mother Fareen and aunt Faiza Sameen uncle Hasib-ur-Rehman, and grandparents Mohammed Azam and Rehana Sultana were trapped to death in their apartment.
The final rites of all the seven family members were performed at Bazarghat, where the remains of their ancestors are laid to rest, close relatives said.
Mohd Akbar, one of the relatives, said they were hoping for Talha’s recovery to provide some solace to his father. “All the family members including Ali, joined the Namaz-e-Janaza following Fajr prayers at Niloufer Masjid. Ali performed ‘Tatfeen’ to his wife Tahura Farheen and daughters Taroba and Manham, after which they were laid to rest at the Masjid-e0Qutub Shahi at Bazarghat,” he said.
The final rites of Mohd Zakeer Hussain and his wife Nikat Sultana, two other victims, were completed at Chaderghat. AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi, along with local party leaders, attended the last rites.
