Vijayawada: Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) is starting pink toilets exclusively for women in Vijayawada city. The first one at the Benz Circle Junction will become operational soon.
Stating this, VMC commissioner Swapnil Dinkar Pundkar said the facility will have a separate room for mothers to nurse their babies, a vending machine dispensing sanitary napkins, and facilities for freshening up.
The commissioner said instructions have been issued to beautify the surroundings of the Pink toilets, which are being set up at a cost of ₹20 lakh.
Swapnil said the corporation’s endeavour is to keep the city’s roads and public areas clean, so that Vijayawada Municipal Corporation can bag Seven Stars for being a Garbage Free City in the Swachh Survey 2023.
The commissioner sought cooperation from all citizens, so that Vijayawada city could get the first rank at the national level in Swachh Survey.
