CM Jagan presents Rs 30 lakh cheque to cop's family
Vijayawada: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday handed over a cheque of ₹30 lakh to family members of APSP constable Satya Kumar, who died while on cyclone rescue duty on December 6.
The constable of the 2005 batch belonging to APSP 11th battalion died on the spot when a tree fell on him at Malinenipatnam village in Chennur mandal of Kadapa district. State government announced an ex gratia of ₹30 lakh to the constable’s family on the same day.
On Friday, Satya Kumar’s wife Sririvella Raji and son Santosh Kumar arrived at the CM’s Camp Office, where Jagan Mohan Reddy interacted with them before presenting the cheque.
The Chief Minister also directed officials to issue a GO for providing a job to Satya Kumar’s son, who is currently studying intermediate, after completing his degree. He assured that his government will always stand by families of police personnel who lose their lives while on duty.
DGP K.V. Rajendranath Reddy was present on the occasion.
