TSPSC paper leak: Job aspirants set to face 5-month delay
HYDERABAD: The Telangana Public Service Commission (TSPSC) exams, for hiring engineers, that was put off due to paper leaks are likely to be held only around August, after competitive entrance tests, such as Eamcet, Lawcet and UPSC prelims, are held in April and May.
Aspirants seeking to apply to the posts of assistant engineers, municipal assistant engineers, technical officers, and junior technical officers in various engineering departments will have to wait longer, officials said.
TSPSC chairman B. Janardhan Reddy told Deccan Chronicle that a date for conducting examinations will be decided in a couple of days. He said that examination dates are hard to decide, given the tight examination schedule for other tests.
“Eamcet (engineering) will be conducted by JNTUH from May 7 to 9, Eamcet (agriculture and medical) will be held on May 10 and 11. TSCHE is going to conduct TS Lawcet-2023 on May 25. UPSC prelims will be conducted on May 28, followed by Group-I main examinations in June. Written (main) examination (conventional type) is scheduled to be held from June 5 to June 10 and on June 12 in Hyderabad (including HMDA jurisdiction),” he said.
Janardhan Reddy hinted that the examination for the recruitment of engineers, will, hence, be conducted anywhere between July and August.
The TSPSC on Wednesday, in an official statement, said that based on the FIR registered by the police into an alleged question paper leak, the exam for recruitment to the post of assistant engineer (civil) held on March 5 stands cancelled and that a new date will be decided later.
In the incident, nine people, including two TSPSC employees were arrested for stealing confidential data from secured systems by using the credentials of other employees.
Janardhan Reddy said that the department has suspended assistant section officer Pulidindi Praveen Kumar, and terminated the service of network administrator Atla Rajasekhar Reddy. “Termination of (services of) regular employees without concrete evidence might lead to backlash in court. A decision to terminate (services of) others has to be taken by the respective parent departments,” he said.
Those arrested in the incident include a school teacher and a technical assistant.
The police said that the two TSPSC staffers sold the question paper to Praveen’s acquaintance Renuka for `10 lakh, following Renuka’s husband, Dhakya, sold it to two aspirants, Neelesh and Gopal, for `13.5 lakh. The aspirants were also helped by a police constable, Srinivas, of the Medchal police station.
