ANANTAPUR: A private bus carrying 20 passengers got reduced to ashes when it caught fire after its tyre burst on the Bengaluru highway near Singanamala during the wee hours of Saturday.
OVR Travels operates a bus between Bengaluru and Banaganipalli every day. When the bus carrying passengers from Bengaluru reached Singanamala en route to Tadipatri, a tyre burst. The bus driver immediately stopped the bus on the side and checked.
He noticed a fire underneath the bus and orders passengers to immediately evacuate the bus. The bus got reduced to ashes before the fire crew arrived.
Singanamala Circle inspector Ashar Basha took measures to send passengers by alternate buses towards Tadipatri and Banaganipalli in Nandyal district.
