Minister Sidri says 50K people will be provided jobs in Kakinada district

Kakinada district will become an Industrial hub soon.

Kakinada: Animal husbandry minister Sidiri Appala Raju said that Kakinada district will become an Industrial hub soon, with upcoming industries providing employment to nearly 50,000 people.

Addressing a gathering after unfurling the National Flag at Police Parade Grounds here on Tuesday, he said that as per MoUs reached at the Global Investors’ Summit in Visakhapatnam, various pharma companies are investing ₹2,950 crore in Kakinada district, providing 3,800 jobs.

Construction of Kakinada Gateway Port near Kona village over an extent of 1,944 acres at an investment of ₹2,123 crore will be completed in 18 months. The port will provide employment to 2,500 directly and to 10,000 indirectly.

The minister said Kakinada anchorage port is being modernised at a cost of ₹100 crore, which will provide direct and indirect employment to 30,000 people. He said that the central government has sanctioned ₹230 crore for construction of buildings of the prestigious Indian Institute of Foreign Trade spread over 25 acres.

He said that the police department is providing alternative employment opportunities under the Parivarthana programme to people who have given up manufacturing and sale of illegal arrack. Such people are being given skill development training and provided loans to set up self-employment units.

Appala Raju said the government has sanctioned ₹407 crore to link Yeleru-Thandava reservoirs. The Yeleru Reservoir Phase-1 modernisation works are going on at a cost of ₹138 crore.

Kakinada district collector Kritika Shukla, joint collector S. Illakkiya and superintendent of police S. Satish Kumar were among those present.

Transport minister Pinepe Viswaroop, who unfurled the National Flag at Eluru on Tuesday, said 32 rehabilitation colonies are being constructed at a cost of ₹1,523 crore fort those displaced by the Polavaram Project victims.

Konaseema district in-charge Jogi Ramesh unfurled the National Flag at Amalapuram. He said Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has sanctioned ₹200 crore for construction of a revetment wall to curb erosion in islet villages of P. Gannavaram and Mummidivaram constituencies.

BC welfare minister Ch. Srinivasa Venu Gopalakrishna, who unfurled the National Flag at Rajamahendravaram on Tuesday, said the government has introduced cashless digital payments in panchayat offices with Union Bank of India giving QR codes to 300 panchayats in East Godavari District.
