KOCHI: The executive committee of the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) has approved the Rs 76.5 crore development project of Ernakulam Government General Hospital. INKEL Limited submitted the detailed project report which was approved by KIIFB, said district collector Muhammad Y Safirulla, who is also the hospital development committee chairman. The air-conditioned super specialty block in a 7,127 square feet area and cancer block over a 2,011 square feet area are the major projects to be taken up under the scheme.
The eight-storeyed super specialty block will have the facility to admit 187 patients in the IP section. There will be six operation theatres, intensive care units, wards and endoscopy unit in the super specialty block. The cancer block can accommodate 100 inpatients. E-tenders have been floated for the construction of the new building and the pre-bid meeting will be held on September 22. October 6 is the last date for submitting the tender documents. The plan is to begin construction by November, if the mandatory clearances are received. The project is expected to be complete within two years.
