Hyderabad City Police Chief Reviews Security Arrangements for Assembly Elections

Any negligence in performing duties will be dealt with seriously, Shandilya warned

Hyderabad: In a runup to the legislative Assembly elections, city police commissioner Sandeep Shandilya held a review meeting with zonal DCP, ACPs, inspectors and task force officials and discussed security arrangements here on Sunday. Among the focus areas was categorisation of police stations and the sanctioned strength of personnel for each police station.

The meeting discussed about the progress of enforcement measures against violators of the model code of conduct (MCC) like distribution of cash, liquor, freebies, drugs/ganja, precious metals, execution of NBWs, bound overs, arms deposit, action against rowdy sheeters, apart from vulnerability mapping, critical polling locations and polling stations and the zonal election cell. Shandilya directed law and order police to work without any prejudice and take stern action against MCC violators.

The meeting reviewed the performance of the city task force in the last 15 days. The 90 flying squads located in 15 constituencies in the city were instructed to conduct their duties responsibly. Any negligence in performing duties will be dealt with seriously, Shandilya warned.

Elsewhere, Rachakonda police commissioner D.S. Chauhan reviewed security arrangements at Aurora Engineering College, Yadadri district. He then inspected Mothkur and Atmakuru police stations.

Chauhan said that police would do their best to conduct the elections in a peaceful and fair manner. The personnel have been given specific instructions and meetings held to brief them on election rules, Chauhan said.
