Karthika Brahmotsavams Drawing Devotees to Tiruchanoor

Tirupati: The seventh day of annual Karthika Brahmotsavams in Tiruchanoor witnessed Goddess Padmavathi Devi Ammavaru blessing devotees from Her Suryaprabha and Chandraprabha vahanams on Thursday.

The divine celestial procession, a highlight of ongoing festivities, drew devotees from far and wide.

Among the procession's various vahanams, Surya Prabha vahanam holds a distinctive significance, symbolising the Sun God's control over the affairs of entire universe. Representing the three Rig, Yajur and Sama Vedas, Sun God is revered as Trayimaya, the embodiment of Lord Narayana. During His cosmic journey, Sun God traverses 9,51,00,000 yojanas (76,08,00,000 miles) at a breath-taking speed of 2,000 yojanas and two krosas (16,004 miles) in a moment.

As the day progressed, utsava idols received Snapana Tirumanjanam in the afternoon. The Goddess graced the Chandraprabha vahanam in the evening. Chandra, the Moon God, is often regarded as a lovable deity in Hindu mythology. He plays the role of mind, receiving the light of soul when juxtaposed with Sun as an indicator of the soul.

TTD chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy and joint executive officer V. Veerabrahmam were among those who participated in the procession.

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is making elaborate arrangements for the culminating Panchami Theertham event of the Brahmotsavams. Over one lakh devotees are expected to take a dip in Padma Sarovaram simultaneously on the final day.

German sheds have been strategically placed in the temple vicinity to serve as waiting spaces for devotees before they enter the tank. Food, drinking water and tea will be provided periodically to those waiting in the sheds. Authorities are regulating the flow of pilgrims to minimise the risk of overcrowding or stampedes.

TTD executive officer A.V. Dharma Reddy personally inspected the arrangements at the temple.
