UN certification for CMS College Kottayam

Saji Thomas, a UN representative, handed over the memento to the college authorities on Tuesday.

Kottayam: The CMS College, Kottayam, is now a member of the United Nations Academic Impact for its contributions in education and creating social awareness. Saji Thomas, a UN representative, handed over the memento to the college authorities on Tuesday.

The first college established in the country by the CMS missionaries in 1817 received the membership for an academic partnership last year, fulfilling its criteria.

It conducted a "rare blood group campaign" at the Jyothis Special School at SH Mount, Kottayam, for the challenged children, besides an interactive session, and uploaded it onto the college website.

"The periodic updating is essential for maintaining the membership," Ashok Alex Luke, an assistant professor of political science and joint coordinator of the UN Academic Impact wing, told DC. They also expect UN funding.
