Case against MRO

HYDERABAD: In a land encroachment case in which a mandal revenue office was booked by the police on Tuesday for her alleged involvement, complainant Dastagir Shareef has approached the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against the accused officer R.P. Jyoti and six others, including her partner at EIPL Construction.

This is reportedly the first such complaint. It was claimed that there was clear evidence that the MRO had allegedly misused her powers and colluded with builders with regard to government land worth crores of rupees, ED sources said on Wednesday.

Criminal charges of forgery, fabrication, impersonating and misusing powers have been registered against Jyoti and six others. The Maheshwaram police issued an FIR on Tuesday.

According to sources in the central agencies, the prime accused Khadirunnisa with Jyoti’s support managed to fabricate bogus documents claiming ownership of a piece of government land, and collected crores from buyers by promising to sell them plots.

“The accused will be framed under abetment by persons (Section 107), criminal conspiracy (120), public servant disobeying law person (166), public servant disobeying direction under law (166A), public servant framing an incorrect document (167) of the IPC,” said Asad Hassan, counsel for Dastigir.

The land was notified as government land (gairan) in the 22-A prohibitory list of the Telangana Registration of Stamps Act 1909. The central agencies have assured to take stern action against the scam, he said.

The High Court on a writ petition has sought a reply from the revenue department, counsel said.
