Owaisi, Shabbir condole death of Zafaryab Jilani
HYDERABAD: MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi mourned the death of Zafaryab Jilani, 74, secretary of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), and senior advocate in the Supreme Court, in Lucknow on Wednesday.
“He was loved by all those who stand for justice,” said Owaisi. Jilani died in a Lucknow hospital.
Jilani was widely known for representing Muslim petitioners in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute. He also served as additional advocate general of Uttar Pradesh.
In a separate message, senior Congress Mohammad Ali Shabbir said, “The demise of Zafaryab Jilani is a great loss not only for his family and friends but for the entire legal community. He was an accomplished lawyer and an integral part of the country’s legal fraternity. My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family."
