Kurnool mayor's vote missing in revised voters' list
In an unusual turn, Kurnool city mayor B.Y. Ramaiah, who represents the ruling party, has found his name deleted from the voters’ list, which has been revised.
Incidentally, Ramaiah had participated in the 2021 urban local bodies’ elections. He cast his vote at polling station 191 in Kurnool. Subsequently, he got elected as a corporator and went on to become the mayor. However, his name has strangely vanished from the revised voters' list of the 138-Panyam Assembly Constituency.
Expressing his shock, Ramaiah submitted a representation to district collector Dr. G. Srijana on Wednesday. In his letter, he detailed the circumstances of him casting his vote at polling station no. 191 with his voter ID being NKD3434503.
The matter surfaced when Ramaiah verified his voter status with his booth level officer. To his astonishment, the concerned BLO informed him that his voter ID is not traceable in the revised electoral roll.
This unexpected omission of the first citizen of Kurnool city from the electoral roll, without any apparent justification, indicates significant lapses in the oversight of electoral procedures.
Ramaiah charged that his case highlights negligence in management of electoral rolls. He urged the district collector to initiate a thorough inquiry into the issue and take necessary corrective measures.
