Gummadi Anuradha first Adivasi woman in Telugu states to head a law college
Yellandu (Bhadradri): Gummadi Anuradha became the first Adivasi woman in Telangana state and Andhra Pradesh to head a law college, when she was appointed Principal of the Post-Graduation College of Law in Basheerbagh in Hyderabad.
Anuradha did her PhD on property rights among the Scheduled Tribes communities, in 2017. She hails from Tekulagudem, a tiny village in Yellandu mandal, and is the daughter of Gummadi Narasaiah, former MLA of Yellandu.
Chanda Lingaiah, former minister and former zilla parishad chairperson, said that it was a memorable event for the Adivasis that a woman from among them was heading a reputed institution.
Anuradha completed her schooling in Tekulagudem and Sidemella in Yellandu.
Speaking on her appointment, Anuradha said, that she set a goal to do her best for the college. “My father extended all support for my education and I have learnt a lot as a student leader in my college,” she said.
