CRPF\'s women bike rally on \'Nari Shakti\'
Hyderabad: Korada Tulasi from Vizianagaram, Surla Padma from Visakhapatnam and B. Anantha Laxmi from Prakasam, are among the 60 CRPF women personnel who are on a 3,045 km expedition from Kanyakumari to the Statue of Unity in Kevdia, Gujarat, carrying the message of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ and ‘Nari Shakthi’.
"We are here because we could pursue our dreams and our families supported us in the journey. We wish that all girls will go about achieving their dreams and do what they like and most importantly, their families should support them without any discrimination or gender-bias," they said.
All of them are riding bikes long distances for the first time in their lives. The bikers, led by deputy commandants V.T. Sindhu and Suma K.P., are covering around 400 km per day. The journey is expected to culminate on October 31.
B. Uday Bhaskar, DIG. CRPF, said that the women bikers are creating brand identity for the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign. They are also taking forward the message of the Force, ‘Desh Ke Hum Hain Rakshak’.
"Our aim is to create awareness and sensitise women, particularly girls, so that they can also follow their dreams like these women officers," he said.
As a part of this expedition, three CRPF women motorcycle expedition teams were “flagged off” simultaneously from Srinagar, Shillong and Kanyakumari on October 5
