Karimnagar: Following the orders issued by Ramagundam police commissioner Rema Rajeshwari, police officials conducted inspections at various places including bus stands, railway stations and lodges under the limits of Peddapalli and Mancherial police stations on Thursday to check the illegal transportation of cash and liquor for the distribution during the election campaign.
The CP said that the surprise inspections were carried out under the Ramagundam commissionerate limits for the conduct of free and fair elections in a peaceful atmosphere and without giving any scope for violence or any untoward incidents. The checks would continue till the elections were held smoothly, he added.
Strict vigilance is kept by establishing check posts along with conducting vehicle checks to prevent the flow of liquor, money and various kinds of election materials to lure the voters during the campaign by the contesting candidates.
She warned that stringent actions would be taken as per law against the persons irrespective of their position or status if they violated the model code of conduct and indulged in the illegal transport of election materials.
