Gudur detained for rasta roko protest against RRR land acquisition
HYDERABAD: Police detained senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Gudur Narayana Reddy staging a roadblock on the Hyderabad-Warangal highway at Raigiri, in a protest against the forcible acquisition of farmers’ lands for the Regional Ring Road (RRR) project.
After he was released from the Bhuvanagiri Rural police station, Narayana Reddy went to the collector’s office to continue his protest and submitted a memorandum to joint collector Srinivas Reddy.
Narayana Reddy slammed the state government, accusing it of destroying the livelihoods of poorer sections of society for the benefit of wealthy people.
Addressing media persons, he alleged that Bhuvanagiri MLA Pailla Sekhar Reddy was not bothered about the plight of micro and small farmers, who would lose their lands for the construction of RRR in Raigiri, Tukkapur, Ghouse Nagar, Errambelli, Proddatur, Gokaram and Varkatpalli of Yadadri - Bhuvanagiri and Valigonda mandals.
He alleged that the BRS leaders, in connivance with revenue officials, changed the RRR alignment to ensure it passes through Choutuppal, Motakodur and Rajapet then towards Raigiri.
