Thoothukudi retains 5th place in plus-2 exam for the third consecutive time
Thoothukudi: Thoothukudi district retained the fifth position among the districts in the overall pass percentage in the plus-2 exam for the third consecutive time this year.
Of the 8,898 boys and 11,090 girls, who appeared for the exam this year from Thoothukudi district, 8,216 boys and 10,866 girls got through. The district registered an overall pass percentage of 95.47 per cent and stands at the fifth position among the 32 districts in the state. It maintained last year’s pass percentage of 95.50, M. S. Surya Prabha of Kanchi Sri Sankaracharya Matriculation Higher Secondary School at Tiruchendur in the district scored 1,182 to clinch the district first rank.
P. Sri Harini of Ravilla Vidyalayashram Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Kovilpatti, A. Vanitha of Subbaiah Vidyalayam Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Thoothukudi and R.Priyanka of SPIC Nagar higher secondary school, Thoothukudi shared the district second rank by scoring aggregate marks of 1181 each.
V. Parkavi of Kamaraj Matriculation higher secondary school, Kovilpatti
bagged the district third rank with an aggregate mark of 1,180. Tirunelveli district popularly known as the ‘Oxford of South’ managed to move up to the tenth position among the districts in the state in the overall pass percentage in the plus-2exam this year. Last year it was in the 12th position. In 2014, it was in eighth position with an overall pass percentage of 94.37.
This year, it has an overall pass percentage of 94.76 per cent. Shruti of Sri Jeyandra Swamigal Golden Jubilee Matriculation higher secondary school, Tirunelveli scored an aggregate mark of 1191 to bag the district first rank.
