Villagers fell ill due to water contamination in AP's Nandyal district
Kurnool: More than 100 villagers of Kothapet in Palukuru in Nandyal district, fell ill on Saturday allegedly due to consumption of contaminated water from the local tank.
The affected persons were immediately shifted to hospitals in Nandyal and Kurnool for medical treatment.
Local people say that the water in the village tank has been contaminated and not adequately cleaned. As a result, residents who consumed the water began experiencing symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea. Initially, they received first aid at the local Primary Health Centre, but due to the severity of the situation, they were subsequently shifted to hospitals in Kurnool and Nandyal.
Medical and health officials have confirmed that no casualties have been reported so far. Samples of the water have been collected and are currently undergoing testing at the laboratory to determine the exact cause of the contamination.
