Vizag MP, MLA meet VSP CMD over workers' issues
VISAKHAPATNAM: Visakhapatnam MP M.V.V. Satyanarayana and Gajuwaka MLA Tippala Nagireddy on Monday met Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) chairman and managing director (CMD) Atul Bhatt and Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) director (Personnel) Pandey in an attempt to resolve various issues being faced by steel plant workers.
The MP and MLA informed Bhatt that VSP is facing a financial crisis due to a shortage of captive mines, which would have otherwise cut down the cost of production. They also suggested that proposals of privatisation and strategic disinvestment in RINL be dropped.
Satyanarayana and Nagireddy brought to the attention of the CMD and the director several other issues, including those working on a contract and outsourcing basis. They sought the construction of a road from New Gajuwaka to the steel plant BC Gate and a Kalyanamandapm at Aganampudi.
