HYDERABAD: The suspense over the TSRTC’s merger with the state government continued after a Bill proposing the move was passed by the Legislature awaiting the nod of Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan.
On Thursday, Raj Bhavan said the Bill was referred to the law secretary, which it said “is a normal practice stipulated in the relevant rules,” and that “based on the recommendations of the law secretary, further action on all Bills, including the TSRTC Bill, will be taken.”
Raj Bhavan, in a communique, said the clarification on the status of the TSRTC Bill was issued “to quell misinformation circulating in certain quarters, including some sections of the print and electronic media, claiming that the Governor withheld the TSRTC bill and decided to reserve it for the assent of the President of India. All this speculation is far from the truth.”
The Governor’s office urged the public in general, and TSRTC employees in particular, “not to be swayed by such false and baseless news spread by certain vested interests.”
Raj Bhavan said the Governor had provided 10 recommendations in the best interests of the RTC employees and the well-being of the corporation while permitting the introduction of the Bill. She had earlier returned four other Bills with certain recommendations. The Governor, according to the communique sought to “ascertain whether these recommendations were properly taken care of in the Bills now received by the Raj Bhavan or not.”
Meanwhile, it was learned that the nominations of Prof. Dasoju Sravan and K. Satyanarayana, sent by the state government for filling up two vacancies in the Legislative Council under the Governor’s quota, are under Dr Soundararajan’s consideration.
