Security to be enhanced at Tirumala: Principal Secretary

Principal Secretary (Home) Harish Kumar Gupta reiterated that safety and security of devotees at the iconic Lord Venkateswara Temple at Tirumala remains the foremost priority of the state government.

At a high-level meeting held on Thursday at Annamayya Bhavan in Tirumala, Gupta reviewed the recommendations put forth by various expert committees focused on enhancing safety and security measures at the revered site. The meeting was attended by Intelligence Security Wing IG Sasidhar Reddy and Tirupati SP P. Parameswara Reddy, among others.

During the Meeting, the principal secretary underscored the critical importance of effectively translating experts’ recommendations into actionable steps at the operational level.

He stated that active measures are being taken to bolster the security at Tirumala by employing diverse tactics, such as incorporating AI-driven CCTV cameras and linking them with an Integrated Command Control Centre, which would be established under the supervision of the TTD’s chief vigilance and security officer.

Gupta said specialised training programmes will be offered to officers and staff to equip them with knowledge and skills needed for effectively leveraging cutting-edge technology in countering emerging security challenges. To mitigate the potential threat posed by drones, anti-drone technology will be deployed across Tirumala, he stated.
