HC hears petitions seeking development of Amaravati

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh High Court heard a batch of petitions stating that the state government was not implementing the court direction to develop Amaravati as capital city for AP on Monday.

Advocate-General S. Sriram submitted to the court that the state government has appealed in the Supreme Court against the AP High Court’s order on the issue and said that it might come up for hearing in the apex court meeting in November first week and asked the court to defer the hearing in the case.

Advocate Muralidhar, representing the farmers, submitted to the court that as the state government withdrew the CRDA Repeal Act, such Act was in force and appealed to the court to issue direction to the government to take up developmental works in the capital city as per the provisions of the Act.

The court said that as the case was scheduled for hearing in the apex court, they would take up hearing after the completion of hearing in the apex court.
