The MD expressed happiness upon receiving the award and said that besides providing drinking water to everyone in the city, the Telangana government is working hard towards treating the sewage generated.
The award and a certificate of appreciation were handed over to Sridhar Babu by jal shakti minister Gajendra Singh Shekawat at the awards ceremony held in Delhi on Friday.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, Shekawat praised the board saying that Hyderabad is on its way to becoming the first city that is treating 100 percent of sewage water in the country.
He said that it is the responsibility of every citizen to protect water resources and if water is wasted, it causes irreparable damage to all living beings.
Under the joint auspices of Unesco and the Union ministry of water power, many government departments and corporate organisations related to water management participated in this competition.
For the first time in the country, the Telangana government has sanctioned 62 STPs in Hyderabad under the STP plan at a cost of Rs 3,866 crores for 100% sewage treatment.
