HYDERABAD: Travellers proceeding to and returning from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), can hereafter save on time and money, thanks to the connectivity established by South Central Railway (SCR), which added 40 new Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) services here on Wednesday.
With this phase, MMTS will now operate 106 services while with their extension up to Medchal and Umdanagar stations, the services will now cover 90 km, which is a substantial increase from the existing 48 km.
SCR added 20 MMTS services between Secunderabad and Medchal and another 20 services have been extended from Falaknuma to Umdanagar.
This extension strengthens rail connectivity between different parts of the twin cities, especially the eastern part. This will be particularly beneficial to students, employees, small business people, women and the general public.
The suburban services between Secunderabad and Medchal, will connect stations like Malkajgiri, Dayanand Nagar, Safilguda, Ramakistapuram, Ammuguda, Cavalry Barracks, Alwal Bolarum, Gundlapochampally and Gowdavalli, among others. The other services that used to operate till Falaknuma have been extended up to Umdanagar, the railway station nearest to RGIA.

Works on the remaining stretches of MMTS Phase-II extension are progressing at a brisk pace.”
