Puducherry: The formal agreement between Puducherry government and Chennai port will be signed on July 27. They had entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to unload containers here. Talking to mediapersons here on Monday, Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy said in the first year one million tonne containers will be handled. This will be increased to four million tons in the second and third year.
Detailing about the the inter-state council meeting held in New Delhi the Chief Minister said the meeting discussed various topics including Punchhi Commission recommendations, centre-state finance relation and planning.
“I talked for about 20 minutes in the session where I mentioned important issues related to the Union Territory including waiver of the legacy loan, inclusion of Puducherry in the central finance commission, enhancement of non-plan allocation and provision of cyclone relief,” he said.
Including Karaikkal under the Amrut scheme, financial aid to start CBSE syllabus in Puducherry, steps to release the TN and Karaikal fishermen from SL prisons, sanctioning of Rs 2,000 crore water supply and drainage project with French aid were also discussed in the meeting.
