Jagan Instructs Officials to Help Deported Telugu US Students
VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has taken note of the incident involving deportation of Telugu students from America.
On Saturday, he instructed officials to gather comprehensive information about these students and expedite resolution of their problem. He advised that, if required, officials must reach out to the Ministry of External Affairs for assistance.
The CM reacted following reports that 21 Indian students from Telugu states are being deported back to India after the US Customs and Border Protection authorities at Atlanta, Chicago and San Francisco airports found discrepancies in the documents being carried by these students. The deported students are reportedly stranded at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi.
Jagan Mohan Reddy has asked AP Non-Resident Telugu Society (APNRTS) to look into the matter and resolve the issue. The society president Venkat S. Medapati advised students call helpline numbers +91 863 2340678; +91 85000 27678 (WhatsApp) that are available 24/7 or email info@apnrts.com or helpline@apnrts.com
Venkat underlined that having a valid visa does not guarantee entry into the USA. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the point of entry should also be convinced about the documents people are carrying before they can be allowed to enter America.
He said students who have been deported may reach out to APNRT Society, a Government entity, which specialises in overseas education admission and counselling process, pre-departure orientation, post-arrival services, long-term tracking and so on.
APNTRS president advised students and their parents not to become victims of misleading education consultants and other agencies, but go through reputed organisations.
