CPM leaders disrupt CM Jagan's meeting

KURNOOL: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy's visit to Dhone in Kurnool district faced sporadic disturbances and protests, with CPM leaders disrupting his public meeting by demanding the declaration of drought-affected mandals and raising party flags.

The police subsequently detained the CPM leaders. Further, the preventive arrests of sarpanches during the CM's visit were criticised as undemocratic by Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj Chamber state general secretary Birru Pratap Reddy, who expressed concern that the funds of sarpanches were being used, and arrests were made when they sought the funds back.

The influx of buses and vehicles from various places in Kurnool and Nandyal districts caused significant traffic disruptions, which were subsequently resolved by police personnel.
