Vigilance checks at government medical centres; many flaws detected
VIJAYAWADA: The Vigilance and Enforcement department inspected 41 sub centre/ PHC/CHC/government hospitals across the state on Tuesday.
The teams of officials verified the condition of the hospital buildings and infrastructure facilities available at these entities and the supply of medicines/drugs, medical equipment/ surgical items/ lab kits etc and their utilization.
The officials said that drinking water facility was not available at PHC Raavaada in Ranastalam mandal of SKLM district, CHC Yalamanchili of Anakapalli district and 75 Tyallur of Pedakurapadu of Palnadu district.
In PHC Annavaram of Palakonda mandal of PVP Manyam district and PHC Chejerla of Nellore district, stocks of blood bags were not available.
In CHC Bheemunipatnam of Visakhapatnam district, a cold chain facility for vaccines was found damaged and vaccines were being stored in nearby hospitals.
In CHC Yelamanchili of Anakapalli district, date-expired medicine was found to be mixed with date non-expired medicine.
In PHC Pedapalla of Almur mandal of Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema district, the electrolyte analyzer was found not in use and the physical stock of medicines has not tallied with the records in the stock registers.
In Prathipadu CHC of Guntur district, BCG vaccines were not available but the indents for the same were not placed and the operation theatre was not functional.
In Cumbum CHC of Prakasam district, Dengue kits and Hepatitis B &C & RPR kits were not available and there was a shortage of IV fluids & normal saline etc.
In Urban PHC Bairagipatteda of Tirupati district, essential drugs like anti-snake venom medicine were not available.
In CHC Bethamcherla of Nandyal district, the X-ray machine and the ENT equipment set were found to be not in use.
In PHC Alamanda of Jami Mandal of Vizianagaram district, CHC Gudur (V&M) of Krishna district and PHC Kanuru (v) of Pamaru of Krishna district, the availability of medicines and the list of laboratory services were not being displayed.
The search officials said action would be recommended against the errant for the lapses and reports would be submitted to the government and concerned departments.
