TIRUPATI: A woman and her daughter with eight-month pregnancy died in a suicide pact after the latter’s husband passed away owing to illness on Monday. The pregnant woman Bhanulatha, (33) and her mother T. Lakshmi (49) hanged themselves on Tuesday night at Vikram Nagar near Ayyappa Temple in Nellore city.
According to information, Bhanulatha and Sudhakar Reddy, a resident of Bhagat Singh Colony, who ran a shop in Vikram Nagar, fell in love and married. Sudhakar was already marked and had children.
Bhanulatha had been eight months’ pregnant when Sudhakar fell ill and died on Monday. The death of Sudhakar had a deep impact on Bhanulatha. In a note, she wrote that she could not endure life without her husband. She said she has decided to take the extreme step. Bhanulatha’s mother Lakshmi too decided to end her life.
Both the daughter and mother hanged themselves from the ceiling of their home on Tuesday night.
When local residents came to know about the suicide pact, they informed Vedayapalem police. Circle inspector P.V. Narayana arrived at the scene and conducted a preliminary examination.
The two bodies have been shifted to the government hospital for autopsy. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
